Why I built this.

I kept missing tasks because my tools lived in tabs I'd forget to check. I needed something that stays on top of everything — not in a browser, not in a dock — and never disappears when I switch windows. Nothing existed that was local, private, and free. So I built Pinned.

It's a floating window that sits above every app, uses a global hotkey, lives in your system tray, and stores everything in a local SQLite file. Built with Tauri and Rust — ~12 MB RAM, no accounts, no telemetry. Made for this generation — developers, designers, gamers, professionals — anyone who needs their tasks to be unignorable.

Questions.
Honest answers.

What is Pinned?
+
Pinned pins your most important tasks as floating cards above every application. It stays visible over fullscreen games, video players, and all your other apps — so you never forget what matters. Built with Tauri and Rust, it uses under 30MB of RAM, requires no account, and is completely free.
Is Pinned really free?
+
Yes. Free forever. No trial, no freemium, no subscription. Download the package, install it, use it. That's it.
Does it work when I'm in a fullscreen game?
+
Yes. Pinned uses OS-level always-on-top windows — not browser notifications. It appears above fullscreen games, video players, and any other app on Windows.
Where is my data stored?
+
Locally. A single SQLite file on your machine. Pinned makes zero network requests except checking GitHub Releases for updates when you open the app — and only if you have internet.
Can I use it without installing?
+
Not currently — the .exe installer sets up the system tray and startup entry. A portable .exe version is planned for a future update.
Can I organize tasks into workspaces?
+
Yes. Pinned supports Workspaces — create separate task lists for work, personal, side projects. Each workspace has its own tasks and floating cards. Switch between them with one click from the settings panel.
Mac and Linux support?
+
We're currently focused on Windows. Join the waiting list to be notified when macOS and Linux builds become available.
Does Pinned work on Wayland?
+
On Linux we recommend running with GDK_BACKEND=x11 for the full Pinned experience. Wayland support is in progress.
